Dear District 15 Bridge Players,

The American Contract Bridge League’s (ACBL) has selected Kansas City again to host the Spring North American Bridge Championships (NABC) March 9-19, 2017, at the Westin Crown Center and Sheraton hotels.  Such recognition provides a unique opportunity to show off Kansas City and our District 15 to many national and international bidge players.

The ACBL by bringing the Spring 2017 NABC to Kansas City will promote regional interest and bridge teaching programs for all ages to learn the game, develop their minds, and meet new people.  The Fund Raising Committee wants to broaden that appeal throughout District 15 and recognize our bridge mentors throughout the District.

Our tournament theme of “Building Better Minds through Bridge” recognizes the educational qualities of the game, our teachers, our mentors, and our partners (friendships) formed while playing the game. The following benefits can be attributed to playing bridge regardless of age:

  • Appling deductive and inductive reasoning.
  • Developing math and analytical thinking skills.
  • Enhancing logic and cognitive thought.
  • Utilizing time management skills in planning and completing complex tasks.
  • Developing and adapting interpersonal skills within a cooperative group.
  • Increasing self-esteem and promoting continuous learning.

Test scores across the nation show that children benefiting from these types of programs do better than their peers not participating in similar programs.

There is an opportunity to have mentors or deceased bridge partners remembered by sponsoring events in the Levels of Sponsorship available attachment.  The Fund Raising Committee is also recruiting alumni from District colleges and universities to particticate in Collegete Bridge Bowl where the finals for a $20,000 scholorship is awarded to the top team at the summer NABC.  Please contact our Fund Raising committee for details.  Hopefully you will consider sponsoring the partners or teachers at the NABC through the following levels of sponsorship:
